Wow. It's been a while since I've posted to the blog. It has been crazy here, but I think I am finally getting all caught up from the power outage. I thought I would post some recent images to show you what has been going on lately at the studio.

I finally have power!!

We finally got the power back on late Friday afternoon. It was a long 5 days.

If you have been trying to call and the phone rang into oblivion, I apologize. Please call again. I would love to talk to you!

As for current client orders... please expect delivery a week later than originally planned due to the power outage. I was unable to place orders to the lab this entire week, as well as having to reschedule many sessions. I promise to get back on schedule just as quickly as I can.

If anyone has any concerns, please let me know!

Learning some new techniques and tips!

I attended a seminar in downtown Louisville last week hosted by Sandy Puc, a phenomenal master photographer from colorado. Here work is truly inspiring as well as her passion. Sandy is involved in many community organizations and is the brains behind Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS). This is a non-profit organization of over 5,000 photographers. Parents who have the unbearable grief of having to watch their baby die, can contact one of these photographers. The photographer will come to the hospital and conduct a private, sensitive portrait session documenting these precious moments. The families are present with a complimentary CD of these images which can be used to print portraits. This is an organization that I plan to take part in!

Newborn Sessions
Again, new mommies, PLEASE call me during your last month of pregnancy to schedule your newborn's appointment. This will ensure that we will be able to get you in during the first weeks of your baby's life so that we can capture those awesome newborn images!

Holiday 2008
I will begin taking holiday sessions on October 13 - yes, you heard it right! It's time to start thinking about holiday sessions! The cut-off for holiday sessions this year will be November 14.

New Mommies!!

If you are planning on coming to our studio for your newborn portraits, please-please-please call to make your appointment toward the end of your pregnancy. Do not wait until the baby arrives. We are currently booking out 3-4 weeks in advance! I really want those newborns as young as I can get them, so please plan accordingly and call so we can get you scheduled.

Just a quick line to catch everyone up on Dad. He is HOME. They actually let him out of the hospital the morning of the graduation party and he surprised us and came! WOW! He goes back to the doctor this week so keep your fingers crossed. Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers!

Now, off to welcome Ava Renea!!!!! We are trying out a new type of slideshow here at the studio, so here is Ava to premiere this for us! Let us know what you think!

I have the BEST clients!

As many of you know, my dad has been in and out of the hospital (mostly in) for the last 3 weeks. Many of you have gone out of your way to call and check on him and have been very understanding when I have had to juggle my appointments around so I could be with him. Between that and my daughter's high school graduation, things have been a little hectic recently.

Jewish flew my dad to Chicago for a procedure that is not currently done as much here in Louisville. Of course, they picked the Friday before my daughter graduated on Saturday, so I needed to stay here. All went well in Chicago and I picked them up from the airport this past Monday and they finally went home. Well, they called again on Tuesday and they were on their way back to Jewish and have been there ever since. They are working on tweaking dad's medication to reduce the number of PVC's. He MAY get to go home tomorrow... we'll see. My daughter's graduation party is tomorrow, so he may have to miss that, too... bummer!

Thanks so much for your concern and understanding during this time! I love you all!!

The Cicadas are EVERYWHERE!

Oh my goodness. The cicadas have emerged.... and with a vengance! I have never seen anything like it, and the sound is deafening! While waiting for my next session I stepped outside to catch a couple snaps of what we are seeing here in Oldham County. While visiting with my neighbor yesterday she pointed out GAZILLIONS of cicada shells under her tree. I never noticed it because I thought it was mulch! Take a look at this... now I only took a shot of one section of the tree bottom. The shells go ALL THE WAY around the tree base like this. It is unbelievable. They have now started to decompose and the smell is horrid!

This next picture shows a cicada emerging from its shell. Amazing.

Unfortunately, my dogs have taken a liking to eating the shells from the tree. I read on the internet that it's okay as long as they don't eat too many. They actually said PEOPLE eat them.......GROSS! They said they are high in protein. I think I'll stick to peanut butter!

Meet one of my senior reps! We had a great time. These are a couple of my faves so far!

What a beautiful family! These two little boys were TO DIE FOR! Now they will be welcoming a new baby girl into their family in about 4 weeks. Can't wait!!!!

It's not often that I get to play with a set of twins. This session was especially fun. What cute little bundles!

We hung another display. This time at Louisville Physician's for Women. I'm sure many of you are familiar with this wonderful group of OBGYN's. Here are some snaps of their new waiting area.

SENIORS 2009

We are starting our Senior 2009 Rep campaign. If you haven't heard of this, you definitely want to learn more about it! I am offering full senior sessions to a limited number of 09 Seniors from each school. Senior reps pay NO session fee, receive big discounts and earn cold hard cash! Update on Clay!!

He has found a home and seems to be very happy. He is eating fresh tuna and salmon and sleeping with his new owner. He is already spoiled refusing to eat his food if it has set out overnight. Sounds like he's living the good life now!! Thanks for all the emails asking about him!

Anyone missing a kitty?? I have a visitor that has been hanging around for a few weeks now. I've been calling him "Clay the Stray"... Of course my son says, "That's so gay!" Anyway, I decided to get a couple of shots of him. If anyone knows someone who lost their kitty, or if anyone would love to give this cutie a home, let me know! He's a sweetie and loves to be held!
